This is not a normal political moment. Our democratic institutions are under sustained pressure. The Republican Party, reshaped in Donald Trump’s image, has embraced an increasingly authoritarian approach that undermines the rule of law, weakens democratic norms, and challenges the institutions meant to protect them.

It is no longer simply important for Democrats to win. It is essential for the survival of democratic governance that we win the presidency and secure durable majorities in Congress.

 At the same time, several far left groups are openly attempting what they describe as a hostile takeover of the Democratic Party. Their effort makes it harder to win the competitive districts that determine control of the House and Senate and it undermines the party’s ability to govern effectively.

Mainstream Democrats PAC exists to meet this moment. We support pragmatic Democratic leaders and work to defeat extreme candidates whose stated objective is to weaken the party and obstruct its ability to lead the country.
